Arshad Mahmood, a DSR leader in Pakistan

While majority of the farmers are sitting on fenceside watching, Mr. Arshad has gone full force in direct seeding of rice. He had 50 acres of paddy last year and harvested nearly 1.5 tons/acre yield despite flood damage to the crop. This year he has already planted 165 acres and is continuing to achieve minimum 250 acres DSR crop. A small farmer of Gujranwala where he had his first DSR crop on two acres two years back he has rented over 800 acres in Jodadia, District Jhang (Coord: N 31.75241, E 72.21242), west of Faisalabad, and undertaking large scale wheat, rice, corn and sugarcane planting.
