Arshad Mahmood, a DSR leader in Pakistan

While majority of the farmers are sitting on fenceside watching, Mr. Arshad has gone full force in direct seeding of rice. He had 50 acres of paddy last year and harvested nearly 1.5 tons/acre yield despite flood damage to the crop. This year he has already planted 165 acres and is continuing to achieve minimum 250 acres DSR crop. A small farmer of Gujranwala where he had his first DSR crop on two acres two years back he has rented over 800 acres in Jodadia, District Jhang (Coord: N 31.75241, E 72.21242), west of Faisalabad, and undertaking large scale wheat, rice, corn and sugarcane planting. CA training of Extension staff

A district level Agri. Extension staff training meeting was held on 15 June, 2011 in the Office of District Agri. Officer, Jhang. Fifty five officers of various levels, representing frontline workers to officers participated the training. Dr. M. Aqil Khan, Country Coordinator, CSISA - Pakistan, addressed the participants and apprised them of Conservation Agriculture (CA) needs, practices, goals and benefits. Farmers' training program on CA especialy DSR held at Mirza Virkan in Pakistan

In continuation to the series of meetings and trainings of farmers on Direct Seeded Rice (DSR) and other Conservation Agriculture (CA) Technologies, a farmers’ training program was conducted in collaboration with District Officer Agri. CSISA Pakistan Coordinator addresses the Federal Government researchers

Dr. Muhammad Aqil Khan, Pakistan Hub Manager - CSISA, was invited on 12 May 2011 to address agriculture scientists of Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC), Islamabad. The lecture was arranged at National Agricultural Research Centre (NARC), the PARC’s national research facility.
